PACKAGING • SIGHS OF SOROW

Xavier Brouwer's song cycle for Sighs of Sorrow, is based on the poems of Adam Lindsay Gordon.

We looked at the themes and life of Adam Lindsay Gordon, the travels across the ocean, the sweeping winds, the sad episodes, his love of horses, reflections and fluid poetry, to come up with a main image.

The title is as though is drowning on the sorrows in a sea of pages.

The internal CD pack features a negative image of the wattle flowers. The wattle is a flower that features in Adam Lindsay Gordon's poems. Reversing the image creates a link but creates a mood associated with his poetry and this song cycle.
